Data exceeds the size of the media

Recommended Posts

I am trying to burn some MP3 files. Everytime I drag a file to the layout, it tells me that the Data exceeds the size of the media, even though it is an empty disk. I also get a little window that pops up when I select Audio CD from the first screen that says Unknown Error. If I hit the OK button in this little window, CDBurnerXP Pro closes out. Have you guys seen anything like this before?

Well, an uninstall and reinstall fixed the unknown error problem, so far. But, I still can't burn mp3's. I add one song to the cd, it tells me that I have added more than the disk can hold. I very much want to use this program, but I can't as long as it does this.

Ok, something else. If I select a data cd instead of audio cd, it will tell me how much space is left on the disk, like it is supposed to do. It is only when I select audio cd that it doesn't see the disk right. Maybe this will help.

Yes, I tried 2 or 3 different brands of disks.

Also, when I try to burn some wma files, it will tell me the same thing. I clicked continue anyway and it will act like it is going to burn, but then it can't decode the wma files. I thought that feature had been added to the program.

I have Windows Media Player 10 installed on my computer and I also installed the WMP 9 runtimes that I downloaded from the download site for CDBurnerXP Pro. It still doesn't work.

I also had the Data exceeds disk capacity but I burned the MP3's as CD-Audio and it worked fine, just to double check, I played the CD in my stereo and it worked fine. When the burn dialog closed, the data exceeds error in the bottom usage bar went away.

Every time I insert a disc, it says "Data exceeds the size of the media" and to the right, it says "4194304.00 MB".

When I check the disk properties, it knows it is an empty CD-R disc, but it reports that the disc has:

Total Capacity: -4193601.18 MB

Free Space: 702.82 MB

Used Space: 4194304.00 MB

These are brand new discs. What is the problem?

I'm having the same issue only for me if I select data it doesn't show the space left, if I choose audio it does. I am trying to burn some videos on different brands of DVDs, uninstalling and reinstalling nothing is working- have you been able to figure it out?
