floele Report Share Posted June 1, 2005 Does CDBurnerXP still work if you uninstall .NET 1.1 after CDBXPP has been installed?
pasnthroo Report Share Posted June 1, 2005 Don't know. I'll be back in a second and let you know. pasnthroo Ok, deleted NET 1.1, leaving 2.0 and CDBurnerXP started up which it wouldn't do before with just 1.1 installed. So something from 1.1 is needed for CDBXP to install and CDBXP needs 2.0 to run. At least on my machine. Interesting.
floele Report Share Posted June 2, 2005 Well, the stup searches for .NET 1.1 and doesn't install if it is missing. It doesn't seem to have a .NET 2.0 detection.
pasnthroo Report Share Posted June 2, 2005 Well, the stup searches for .NET 1.1 and doesn't install if it is missing. It doesn't seem to have a .NET 2.0 detection. Yes and I also went back and uninstalled CDBurnerXP with NET 2.0 still installed and tried to reinstall CDBurnerXP but that was a no go. It definately needs 1.1 installed for it's own installation. pasnthroo
floele Report Share Posted June 3, 2005 In fact, it doesn't need version 1.1. It only wants 1.
kenatiko Author Report Share Posted June 12, 2005 I tryed the version 2 beta , but it still doesnt work
floele Report Share Posted June 12, 2005 I know. The next beta should do it though. By the way, it isn't beta 2, there were betas before
pasnthroo Report Share Posted June 12, 2005 @kenatiko I'm sorry but I'm not clear on if you are installing NET 1.1 and BETA 2? If you have not, then you need to install both. You can uninstall NET 1.1 after your CDBurnXP installation. If you have done the above, then please ignore this post. pasnthroo
Guest stuart Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 I have read this entire forum, followed the advice. Uninstalled XPBurner3.5,installed .NET 1.1 and 2.0,reinstalledXPBurner, and get the same error message. I don't want to be a programmer, just use this program. This is definitely a dog!Over an hour of effort wasted and it still won't work...not for an average user
Simus1 Report Share Posted May 26, 2006 Hello. Possible solution (it worked for me, anyway). Situation: User of Win XP used the Add/Remove applet to uninstall .NET Framework 1.1 (and then, maybe, reinstalled .NET 1.1 or installed .NET 2.0). Upon trying to install CDBurnerXP, user encountered the error: "...Common Language Runtime Debugging Services. Application has generated an exception that could not be handled." The problem is that the Add/Remove applet did a poor job of uninstalling .NET 1.1. Possible solution: If you have .NET 2.0 installed, use the Add/Remove applet to uninstall it. Then, follow the directions in Article 824643 at microsoft.com ( http://support.microsoft.com/?id=824643 ) to do a clean, more complete manual uninstallation of .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 (NOTE: Before manual deletions/changes of Registry keys, do a Registry backup with System Restore or with the more thorough free program ERUNT http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ ; also, use the free version of TotalUninstall when installing and uninstalling programs). Next, reinstall .NET 1.1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en 89129 ), and Service Pack 1 (SP1) for .NET 1.1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en 90130 ), and the Hotfix for SP1 for .NET 1.1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en 91131 ), and finally .NET Framework 2.0 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en 92132 ). Note 1 (another scenario that I tested): If an XP user has only .NET 2.0 alone installed (either after a clean/complete uninstallation of version 1.1 or by never having installed version 1.1 in the first place) and then tries to install CDBurnerXP, that results in a dialogue window stating that .NET 1.1 must be installed before installation of CDBurnerXP can proceed. Note 2: I do not know if the installation of CDBurnerXP works if .NET 1.1 is installed AFTER the installation of .NET 2.0. I did not test this scenario, because I actually did a clean/complete uninstallation of both .NET 1.1 and 2.0 before reinstalling first 1.1 and then 2.0. Good luck! Guest Al2 Report Share Posted April 8, 2007 The above solution worked for me initially but later some of the old problems came creeping back. However weeks later i came across a solution were so far at least related probs have not come back.Basically someone has made software tools that automatically/throroughly carry out the above M$ NET.framework clean install procedure. For getting hold of the tools, detailed use instruction of using them, tips + Q & A on the subject go to this link: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/08/406671.aspx NB. There is no download available now but the tools creator will supply them w/o charge if you send a request to his email listed further down the page.
