Hallo,

as mentioned in the title, my 4.7GB DVD-R are recognised as 4.3GB (4489.25MB).

I use a "NEC ND 1300A" on Windows XP SP1.

no bug here....single-layered DVDs can only hold 4.3 GB in its formatted state. It's a little trick played by companies, since 4.7 GB is how much it can hold in its unformatted state (which it is impossible to store data on a unformatted disc).

so technically they aren't using false advertisement -_-

Actually, I think they mean that the DVD can store (approximately) 4.7 decimal GB of data, i.e. 4.7 billion bytes, as opposed to commonly used 'binary' GB which are 2^30 bytes (1024^3) each.

But, same diff.
