Current version 2.0.116 crashed when it tried to burn a data dvd. It left no

helpful diagnostic at all, just disappeared at the point where it would have

starting wriring the disk.

OS is win2K

burner is NEC ND-1100a

no, there's no noticable activity. When you cliick "burn" about 3 lines

appear in the log window and then the main gui+everythign else

disappears. It's all very fast.

those 3 lines in the log could be quite useful. Usually a sucessful burn only uses 2 lines, so that extra line could be your error message.

I know this must be hard, but try and pinpoint the exact time the dialog closes and take a screenshot. If not, then try again with the 3.5 version, and if it still doesn't work, I might have to bug Flo to add some logging capabilities to file :P

the last line is "write speed 16x". The disk starts to spin up but

apparently nothing is written to it.

Are you using Virus Scan? If so, try disabling it completely. I've had something similar happen when VS was running; turning it off seems to fix the problem.

Hello all!

I'm a new CDBurnerXP user, and I thought I'd say that I'm seeing what seems to be this same problem intermittently. I've got Win2K and whatever old CD burner we had lying around (Windows reports it as "RW-5224" in Device Manager).

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I have tried it on a machine running Win2k sp4, winXp sp2 and win98SE. The same damned thing happened every time. Click burn and the interface, the prog all just disappear, no warnings, nothing. The win98SE box doesn't even have a virus scanner

Love to know what is happening as Australian PC User reckons that this app is so great and is using it as their burning software in tutorials. Bit of a bugger if it won't work

I had the same problem. But I solved it.

Unfortunately, I'm at the moment unable to reproduce the crash. So further pinpointing the problem is unfortunately not possible for me.

Specs:

Windows XP Pro SP2

Aopen CD burner 48x24x52

CDBurnerXP Free 3.0.116

Problem:

Trying to burn a bootable Nashua 650MB CDRW. I set the following options:

- Verify Data: YES

- Writing speed: 1X (and 2X)

- Eject the Disk after writing is finished: NO

- Finalize CD: YES

I also set some boot options:

- No emulation

- 4 sectors for boot image

- Enforce ISO level 1: NO

- Pointed the program to the bootimage (.img file)

And when I actually want to begin burning, the program just shuts down. Apparantly without reason or trace.

Solution:

Leave everything on the default options.

For the rest: I did not burn an extra .img in the root of the CD. And I closed down my antivirus, and I shutdown Firefox. Although the antivirus and Firefox almost certainly didn't have anything to do with it.

I hope this helps anyone.

Just managed to reproduce my problem.

It was caused by burning the .img file in the root of the CD. I already used the same .img file to make the CD bootable, and this was causing a conflict.

hi !

same prob here: Win2000 SP2, LG GSA-4120B burner.

I add some files for dvd writing, oliet, 2,4x speed, high comp. mode, finalize disc, and pushed "WRITE DISC" button.

log window shows: "Preparing to write 2,4 speed..."

and then CDBurnerXP shuts down completely.

no disc spins up or sth.

any idea?

thanks

When starting to write the program just closed.

But when I selected the data to write on a lower level I found that a few files did not have any change-date shown in Explorer. After editing and saveing them I tried again with success!

Same thing here, worked once but now it just disappears when I click burn. I don't see any files that are missing a 'last modified' date.
