Error 102 when writing to DVD-R

I am trying to copy a video from a DVD to an DVD-R. The source is a non-commercial training video - not protected as far as I can tell.

Write gets about 75% of the way through and then stops witha "102 - Write failed" message (or similar text).

Source is being read by internal drive on an IBM Thinkpad T41, writer is IBM USB multi-writer. DVD-Rs are branded "Digi Island", made in Taiwan (bought from major retailer in Australia).

It's done it twice now. Does anyone know what this error means and how to overcome the problem?

CD Burner XP Pro version is 2.2.9

Try first ripping the DVD to your hard drive, then burning the data from there. Also, bear in mind that CDBXP does *not* burn UDF format, so your finished copies may not (likely will not) work in a multitude of stand alone DVD players.
