Spyware & CDBurner XP Pro

Recommended Posts

According to my virus protection software, I had to remove setupcdripper.exe because it contained a piece of spyware.

The spyware found was exploit.win32.wmf.pfv

I do not know if this website knew or did not know of this potential problem, nor am I blaming them for the virus infecting my computer. But the date of the infection and the date I acquired CDBurnerXP Pro match. And to my knowledge, I did not download any other software since that date.

Again, I do not blame CDBurnerXP Pro, but if you have downloaded this software, you might want to check your computer for exploit.win32.wmf.pfv. It is easily removed from your computer when you boot up on safe mode.

Perhaps the program setupcdripper.exe is not part of CDBurnerXP Pro and I have programs confused. If so, I ask the moderators to make a post and correct me if I am erroneously connecting setupcdripper.exe and CDBurner XP Pro.

I am not the most computer savvy person, so it would be easy for me to make a mistake like that. So I offer my apolgies up front if I truly am making a bad conntection between software and virus.
