Defining Terms

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

You will note that I'm new to this forum and that I'm trying to learn my way around. CDBXPP3 appears to be a great program. I have used Roxio Easy CD Creator for several years, mainly to burn data files. My problem is how do I burn a CD and then move and install it to my laptop (no internet connection). Roxio has a selection that allows the CD to be installed on any computer so this is one of my concerns and has to do with the choice "Make Disk Bootable." Does making a Boot Disk do the same thing as the selection in Roxio?

I notice the term Joliet; this is new to me. Should I leave the selector at Joliet when making a data file? Thank you.

Once your CD is burned, you can put it in any PC/Laptop and read the data...usually at least.

No, making a disc usable for any PC (which should always be the case anyway) is something different to make a disc bootable. You will only need bottable discs for example if you want to install a new OS for example.

I notice the term Joliet; this is new to me. Should I leave the selector at Joliet when making a data file? Thank you.

Yep, you should. It has the fewest restictions for filenames.
