How to create mixed mode DVD?

Recommended Posts

I just wonder how to create a mixed mode DVD-Video. I want to make a DVD that is normally played back on a DVD player. Additionally, I want to put the video files in divx, avi, wmv and mov for use on a PC.

This is what I did: I just burnt a DVD and added the "VIDEO_TS", "AUDIO_TS" and 2 additional folders "_DE" and "_NL" and put the video files in these 2 folders.

I then tested my burnt DVD on 4 players:

Pioneer could not play the disk at all

DK showed me the folders and files on the DVD

Sony PS3 played it correctly

Samsung DVD recorder played it correctly

So, I know it must be possible to put video AND data on one DVD (and these are playable on the above players), but maybe my approach is too green. Maybe I have to do it like a mixed mode CD? I found that in the help section after my failure.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance
