Folks HP is passing this optiarc DVD device as their product with a part number 457459-TC2 and HP Houston TX address. Worst is that one of HP case Manager in their so called Tech Support represents this drive supporting double layer. When it does not. HP parts is shipping this that intent and misleading consumers. The worst of it is that is made by Standard CD-Rom Drives, a product of China. It does not support double layer and for what it is worth the part number 457459-TC2 does not exist any where in the HP system.

The one below is clealry better as it has more functions. It supports double layer and lightscribe. Most DVD with high capacity tend to be double layerred, also the function of lightscribe is useful when labelling DVDs when doing so, However sperate DVD discs are sold for this specific purpose. Also try to buy the drive with a SATA connection and also try and see what the write and read speed iis. The best availible connection currently availible is SATA it will allow data to be read faster and writeen with minimal to no erorr. The price should also be no more than £20 - £25HOwever if you can up your budget just buy a bluray drive which can do all of the above things and also allow you to watch Bluray films. I would suggest this idea as you would be fututre proven yourself to some certain degree.
