I know its cropped up before, but I thought others may like to know my experiences here. I havbe a Toshiba Satellite L300 with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVDRTD08A Writer. It's recognised by Windows 7 but CDBurnerXP and other burning software refused to recognise it as a writeable device. The 'filter' keys mentioned in other posts were not present in the registry. I tried disabling AHCI but this caused a BSOD when Windows 7 booted. In the end I install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager as recommended as possible fix inthe FAQ's on this site. This fixed it, and the reason is that it installs an INtel SATA AHCI controller!

So if you have this problem install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager!
