[X] CDBurnerXP 4.3.8.2560 didn't start

Recommended Posts

Hallo there!

i've a big prob with CDBurnerXP - it di not start. I reinstalled it and Ieven reinstalled .net Framework... nothing. The process cdburnerxp.exe is running, as I can see in the Taskmanager - but there's no prog CDBurnerXP to see on desktop.

I've the same prob with the previous version... I don't realy think it's a prob with CDBurnerXP itselfe, but it's the only program I've probs with.

Thanx!

My system: WinXP Pro SP3, .Net Framework 2.0 SP2; .Net Framework 3.0 SP2; .Net Framework 3.5 SP1; with the 15th May actual updates.

I had a similar problem, but the report tool didn't work, so I paste it here:

My original report:

[bitte erklären Sie uns (so detailliert wie möglich und vorzugsweise auf Englisch), wie Sie vorgegangen sind oder wie man diesen Fehler reproduziert.]

First I installed 4.3.8.2560. At the end the "Launch CDBurnerXP" was enabled and I hit finish.

After that, the dialog disapeares, but nothing happened.

After 2..3 minutes I opened Windows "Start". After hovering the mouse over "Programs", the system freezes completely. Ctrl-Alt-Del was ignored, but mouse pointer was still moveable.

So I did a hard reset.

After Restart I tried again to run CDBurnerXP with same results.

So after new Restart I opened "Software" to uninstall CDBurnerXP, but there was no entry.

OK, so I installed older version 4.3.8.2523 on top. It claimed there is CDBurnerXP installed, so I acknowledged to overwrite.

At the end I disabled "Launch CDBurnerXP" and restarted the system.

Now in "Software" there was an entry of CDBurnerXP.

So I started CDBurnerXP, but with same system freeze after.

I did one retry, and after starting CDBurnerXP I went to make some coffee. After some more minutes, the typical start chooser of CDBurnerXP was visible, so I hit OK. For 1..2 Minutes I had a kinda broken GUI, but then it came to life. All seemed normal (could read burner's and media properties).

I closed CDBurnerXP for a new try. This time, CDBurnerXP opened very quickly, before and after the chooser dialogue. So I gave it a 3rd try, but this time I got this error report form quickly after the normal GUI was opened.

So I will do a 4th try after sending this report. I can send you the result, if you would answer by my email.

Additionally I must add, that the system is quite slow, if CDBurnerXP is open (after ignoring the error), e.g. Firefox needs up to 5 minutes to load a page, even CPU usage is only 20 %.

I can add, that last time I had some problems (reading bad data without message) with the other DVD-ROM in my system. maybe it has some influence on CDBurnerXP.

After cold start (disconnected the system from power for a few minutes), I could start CDBurnerXP once without problem.

But the 2nd start opened the same error report again.

Because another program caused the same error, I googled and found:

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlexpress/thread/077c7fd8-b03c-451e-a019-5e415f489b88

So I replaced the machine.config file by machine.config.default.

After this, the other program worked fine, but again then CDBurnerXP blocked my system for about 5 minutes, before the typical start chooser of CDBurnerXP was visible,so I hit OK. For 30 seconds I had a kinda broken GUI, but then it came to life. Then I hit "Media information", and then CDBurnerXP was completely frozen, with 0 % CPU-usage.

After managing the problems with .NET config my system is still very unresponsive, after CDBurnerXP ist started, but the CPU usage is low.

There seems to be a dependency, if there is a medium in my CD-RW drive or not.

If there is a medium, Audio-CD, CD-R or CD-RW, in the drive, then the behaviour is quite normal and burning a CD-RW has success.

I don't have this problem using other burning software as Nero 5.5 or ImgBurn.
