Burning ISO to DVD sticks @ 0%

Recommended Posts

So I've been happily using cdburnerxp for a year or so now and in my current build I've had no issues until last night.

Im running Vista x64 on a P5e3 premium with E6750 processor, m-audio soundcard and ATI 4870s in crossfire. Im pretty sure my Vista is only service pack 1 for the moment..

In any event, I tried with multiple ISO files, 4x speed, disc-at-once/finalize disc, and it would just stick at 0% with the green light on my drive flashing.

I sent the ISOs over to my roomie and he burned them fine with a fresh download/install of cdburnerxp.

I am not sure if this is even a bug with the program, may be a drive issue - but was hoping someone here with a little expertise could help suggest next steps. Anything in Vista 64 I should check that may have been fubar'd? Strange thing is similar ISOs were burning with no issues since last week and I think the only change since then was an upgrade in AVG antivirus from 7.5 to 8.5. Could that be interfering somehow??

I have a similar issue. I'm trying to burn a DVD using a new DVD burner (LACie d2 DVD+/-RW with Lightscribe [Actual DVD-ROM is TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N) and it will start the burn process but hangs "preparing to burn disc..." (ie 0% ?). I have to cancel and unplug the burner (it is a USB) to unhang. This has happened with ISO and data files. CDBXP seems to recognize the drive and it will display all supported features. It will detect the disc and give me the disc info. There doesn't seem to be any updates to the disc firmware from LACie and I shouldn't need a new driver, should I? I have been able to burn a disc using Roxio (eww!) without any issues, but I would prefer to use CDBXP as it is a lot easier to use and less bloated.

Every time I try to burn, I get a Windows system event in the event logs stating:

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom2." would hint at a defect drive or driver in my opinion.

The drive must just be incompatible with CDBXP. I have been able to get it to work with other burning applications. I just tried ImgBurn and it worked without any problems. I really don't understand why a drive could be incopatible with any burning software unless it is just poor HW/API compliance. Just manufactuers getting cheap/lazy I guess.

I do get this error when I cancel the burn, BUT I have to disconnect the drive before it unhangs the app, so that could be why I get this error.

(devNTSPTI_IO_Error) Getting DVD Write Mode Page Failed. SCSI Pass-through Interface I/O Error, - 0xFF0079

In any case, this looks like it may be an unrelated issue with the parent post. Thanks for the help

Reinstall of cdburnerxp results in same error: hanging at 0%.

CPU useage of cdburnerxp is at 50% or so continually during this hang.

Also have firefox and Deluge torrent client installed - just as extra info.

I'm pretty stumped. Will try other burning apps and see how it goes with them and report back.

Hello,

I have same problem on 10 computers. While CD Burner XP Pro 3.0 works without problem, CDBurner XP 4.X doesn't work (freeze at 0%).

I think it isn't HW incompatibility when old version of CD Burner XP PRo works. Also creating and burning data discs works in 4.X versions. Only writing ISO has this defect.

Hi,

just want to restart this thread.

I have the same problem with CDBurnerXP 4.3 trying to burn a Data-DVD to a USB-Burner (Samsung SE-S084).

It starts and writes Data but sometimes stops with

(devNTSPTI_IO_Error) Could not write to disk. (LBA: 352128 Length: 32).

SCSI Pass-Through Interface I/O Error. - 0xFF0079

It seems as if I only have this problem if I try to burn DVDs with more than 4 GByte Data.

Greetings

Jens
