Error with Mixed Mode burning - CDBurnerXP v 4.3.0.2604

Recommended Posts

Guest DonValor

Hello everyone,

I've followed the instructions in the following Help article, but run into problems:

http://cdburnerxp.se/help/Miscellaneous/mixedmode

Using CDBurnerXP v 4.3.0.2604, the program states that the CD I just burnt with audio is not writable, even though it sees the available space. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Created a new audio compilation and added 11 MP3s.

2. Clicked the "Burn" button.

3. In the advanced settings, set the write speed to 16x (lowest I could go).

4. Set Burn Method to "A pause of 2 seconds between all tracks".

5. Cleared the "Finalize Disc" and "Eject disc after burning" checkbox.

6. Clicked the "Burn disc" button.

7. CDBurnerXP converted my MP3s then proceeded to burn the audio with no issue.

8. Once the burn was complete, clicked File > Close to close the Audio compilation.

9. Double-clicked Data CD to start a Data session.

10. Added my data to the compilation and clicked "Burn"

11. Selected "Finalize Disc"

12. Error is displayed stating that present disc is "Not Writable"

My system specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 3400+

4 GB RAM

200 GB HD

Windows XP SP3 (fresh install)

LITE-ON DH-20A4H-08 E-IDE Burner with Lightscribe - 20x DVD±R, 8x DVD±RW

The CDs I'm using are Sony branded with a 52x rating.

I've tried using different CDs from the same spindle, as well as some Verbatim Lightscribe CDs rated at 52x. I've uninstalled and reinstalled CDBurnerXP. I've also manually ejected the CD and shut down CDBurnerXP to make sure the cache was cleared. If needed, I can try to install CDBurnerXP on my work system and try using the same CDs, but I'd rather not if it's not necessary, since work watches what we install on our systems very carefully.

If anyone can help me or if there is any other info I need to provide, please let me know.

Thanks for your help,

DonValor

I'm with you Don. I've been attempting the same thing with the same results for the last couple days.

I've tried 2 different computers, thinking it may be my CD burner. I'm wondering if I must use a CD-RW?

Update: I've since updated the firmware of the CD drive, but this has not helped either. I also installed CDBurnerXP on my work system and get the same issue.

Tim, any luck with the CDRWs? I don't have any of those to test with

Update: I've also upgraded to v 4.3.1.2101 and tried again; same issue.

No go with the CDRW either. Looking forward to the fix- I'd really like to use this feature.

I just tested this with version 4.3.2.2140 and it works great! Thanks so much for fixing this, Flo!

I also had the mistakes trying to make mixed-mode CDs. I already succeeded in burning those, but that was with a very much older version of CDBurnerXP. Then I read this thread and downloaded version 4.3.7.2307. Now, when I start burning the second part, the data part, allways this error occurs:

Can you help me with that, please? Thank you in advance.
