Can't write to multiple DVDs... Span.

Hello, CDBurnerXP people,

I Like the potential of this pgm, but it's having a problem.

I want to backup a bunch of files to multiple (spanning) DVDs.

I tested the pgm on a smaller set of files...

it works very well when the files will fit on one DVD.

I ran a test to write 6GB (to multiple DVDs) and it wouldn't work.

Three seconds after the "burn process started" message, it says...

"(devInvalidFieldInCDB) Failure reserving DVD-R track. Invalid field in CDB. - 0x052400"

I've looked thru the FAQs and the "error codes" post and other places...

can't find a solution.

Using a Dell Latitude D620 laptop, with Win XP and all updates, including SP3.

CDBurnerXP v 4.3.8.2474.

The drive is called: HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GSA-T11N

Yeah... I also have never heard of that make / model. Ah, well...

Any ideas, people? Please?

Thanks, in advance.

Thanks very much for the reply, Flo.

As my original post said...

it works very well when the files will fit on one DVD.

Sorry... it's difficult to know what to include in these posts...

A LOT of info, to include all relevant info,

or LITTLE info, so a fast reader might get just the important stuff.

Ah, well...

Thanks.

Ah, I see. Well, maybe check what happens if you don't use a predefined disc size for disc splitting, but instead a custom one which is a bit smaller than the default ones. Maybe for some reason the available size on the disc is lower than the assumed size.

Sorry... still couldn't get it to work, Flo.

Now I'm using your pgm on a desktop, still with Win XP, SP3.

The optical drive is: NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A.

I went to Disk > Disk Spanning > Choose custom size > 4 GB > OK >

and it immediately says the Disk size is "(Custom: 0.00 KB)".

I clicked "Split" and it says the (first?) file is too big: won't fit.

Me thinks that's a bug in the pgm.

Thanks.
