Norton says there is problem with both 32 and 64 versions 4.5.6.6059

Recommended Posts

I am trying to install the latest version 4.5.6.6059 of cdburnerxp either 32 and 64 bit versions.  Every time I down load it, it is deleted by my Norton Security Suite.  When this happens, Norton says that the exe file has the Trojan.Gen.2 in it.

I have been using cdburnerxp both 32 and 64 bit versions for years and I am very happy with it.  My currently installed copy is the 32 bit version 4.5.6.5931.

I started by trying it download it from FileHippo, and eventually moved to the cdburnerxp web site: https://cdburnerxp.se/en-US/download?checkUpdate=4.5.6.5931

It could be that Norton is mistaken about version 4.5.6.6059, but I don't want to take a chance on it.

Sincerely yours,

Don Marshall

Just download the version without OpenCandy from the downloads page under "more downloads".

Can you link us to it? Thanks.

"Trojan.Gen" means that Norton applied some heuristic to decide the file "looks like" malware, without positively identifying it as such. It's a frequent source of false positives. If you see a file flagged as such you should check it with VirusTotal so see if other scanners also consider it malicious.
