[X] No FileViewControl

Recommended Posts

I start CDBurnerXP, select "Data disc", click "OK", and get the error below. If I click "Ignore", then the place where the files are usually listed (in the upper half on the right) is blank. Version 4.3.8.2631. Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

This problem only occurs in rare situations, so far the vendor did not manage to track it down. If there ever is a method to reproduce it, I will make sure that it gets fixed.

It started doing it again:

Can you provide any further info like does it only happen when accessing a particular folder or something? Reproducing still is not possible for me.

It just did it again. Rebooting didn't help. The problem may be directory symbolic links. I had two such links in the directory. I deleted the two symbolic links. Started CDBurnerXP. Then created the symbolic links. The links appeared in the window. And, everything worked. Then I closed CDBurnerXP and restarted it. It started without error, even though the directory it displays when it starts has the symbolic links in it.

So, I can't reproduce it reliably. But, it has been happening fairly often.

OK, then please post that stack trace again when you get the error the next time, so that I can send it to LogicNP. Or did you use the error reporting feature and sent it already?

I think I did use the error reporting feature. Next time I get the error, I'll post the stack trace. At the moment, I'm not getting the error, even though there are symbolic links in the directory.

It did it again. See below. I deleted two symbolic directory links and recreated them and now CDBurnerXP doesn't give the error.

Unfortunately the vendor of the file view control was so far not able to reproduce the issue. They also didn't find anything wrong with symbolic links. I'd like to get this issue fixed, but I think we need some hints in regard to the cause of this issue. Does it only happen when certain programs are running? Does it relate to the types of files or the number of files in the folder? Etc.

What we can also do is: Uncheck "apply this filter to the integrated file browser" in Edit -> Filter files. If you no longer get the error then, I can add a workaround to at least hide this error.

I think I found the problem. Try making a directory symbolic link to a directory on a different drive. This seems to reliably produce the error. If you still can't reproduce it, you could send me a debug version to run.

Unchecking "apply this filter to the integrated file browser" does solve the problem. I don't get the error with this unchecked.
