Hello,

i've downloaded the new version (64bit) and installed it on my System (AMD Quadcore, 12 GB RAM, Win 7).

All is fine but the start of CDBurnerXP last around 20 seconds. Thats quiet a long time for a fast system. On my 5 years old PC at work CDBurnerXP (32bit) starts very quick. I tried the portable Editions (32 and 64 bit) too. Same problem. There are no USB divices connected to my PC. What can be the Problem? I can't tell you if the problem occured with older versions, because i didn't used CDBurnerXP on that System.

Mhm, Well I've always had a 10 Seconds delay with my Quadcore 10GB Ram Win 7 Pro. So I think thats because the path to the cdbxp startup is long, sorry for the not so clear explaination. But I'm pretty shure thats the problem

Thanks for you answer. What do you mean by "the path to the cdbxp startup is long". That sounds to me that there are possibilities to shorten that path.

And why should the startup path on an old dualcore 32 bit XP system be shorter???

The path is too long :? Never heard about that. Do you think CDBurnerXP ist installed down below a folder with 20 underfolders?

Possibility: Antivirus Scanner, or several optical drives that must be scanned?

The startup path, that means the amount of actions and code that has to be executed before the UI is displayed 8)

The only thing that would cause a slow startup of CDBurnerXP is usually (forget about the startup path stuff) the device detection. Currently, there are even two burning libraries being loaded, so there is some amount of duplicate work being done.

First you should check if it makes a difference whether or not a disc is inserted into the drive.

Hi Flo,

thanks for your answer. I'm not at home this weekend. So I can check that first on sunday evening.

I will report you. I will also try it with only one drive connected.

Back again. Checked if CDBurnerXP starts quicker or slower with an inserted discs: Seems to make no difference.

I've disconnected one of my drives and I've checked if there are Firmware-Updates for my drives (One drive updated)

With only one drive connected it started quicker but not really much - maybe 3 seconds. The Firmware Update had no effect.

Hello Flo,

at first I want to thank you for your great support. You cannot take that for granted with free software.

Back to the problem:

I've now updated my SPTD-Drivers. Set the switch in the ini and restarted CDBurnerXP.

It didn't make a difference. The Start takes around 20 seconds.

I've activated also the log-file. There are some warnings about some problems with writing a file.

Maybe it's a problem with the writing admissions:

And forgotten to tell you, tried version 4.2.1.976. which started lightning fast. Also tested the actual 32bit version which needs as long as the 64 bit version: Nearly 20 seconds.

OK, then it's an easy one. Please edit the cdbxpp.exe.config in the program directory and make it look like this:

type="Microsoft.VisualBasic.Logging.FileLogTraceListener, Microsoft.VisualBasic, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a, processorArchitecture=MSIL"
initializeData="FileLogWriter"/>

[/code]

I will also add this adjustment to future releases, as I noticed it is actually recommended by Microsoft.

Hi,

I have the problem of this topic, but I can't see the image whit the solution some posts above.

Now I use the 4.3.8.2568 version and it starts in few seconds.

Can you tell me the modifications to the cdbxpp.exe.config file, please?

Thanks!

The latest version does not have any startup issues that I am aware of, so please download 4.4.1. Also, you might want to try disconnecting USB devices, sometimes these cause a slow startup too.

Hi Floele,

I have just installed cdbxp_setup_4.4.1.3341 finding the same problem: I wait nearly 60 seconds before the main windows of the program appears.

So I have made some other controls and I have found the problem: I use a firewall and I have blocked the access of the program to internet.

I have disabled automatic update in the options Window and now it starts in few seconds.

Testing if it was the real problem I have enabled the option again and it starts in more than 60 seconds like before.

I hope this can help someone else.

Regards

Hm, the update check is only executed in background and thus should not stop the application from launching. Don't know what your firewall might mess up though.

In any case I'll decrease the update check timeout to a few seconds, so it won't take that long anymore even if the firewall blocks it.
