Guest Ichinisan Report Share Posted September 28, 2004 The current name seems to indicate that CDBXP does nothing with DVD discs. DiscBurnXP would be more inclusive. Comments?
Guest Ichinisan Report Share Posted September 28, 2004 I probably should have put that in the New Features/Suggestions forum.

floele Report Share Posted September 28, 2004 Well, I think if we really were going to change the name, we should at least have a better one then So far you seem to be the first one who knows what avatar I have
andyqkw Report Share Posted September 29, 2004 Maybe we can do away with the Pro thing and have just CDBurnerXP or DiskBurnerXP instead...
Mike Liskanich Report Share Posted September 29, 2004 i was thinking someting like Burn Pro or something that neither references media type cd dvd etc and also does not imply OS like the xp anyway it is still a GREAT program no matter what you call it
Guest Miles Report Share Posted October 1, 2004 What about a name contest? Winner gets a free license I think a non-descriptive fantasy name would be more memorable. Just like Nero or Feurio, to name only a few other CD writing softwares. I don't like the current name (although I don't care about it too much), because: - "CD burner" implies CD burning only; - "XP" sounded cool 2 years ago but not anymore; - "Pro" is an unnecessary addition. It is usually added to make a difference between a cheaper version (for personal use) and a more expensive version (for professional use) of the same software. Like with MS Office and many others. This great software needs a great name If you choose a new name, be sure to check the trademark register (of your country at least) to avoid a name that has already been trademarked for software. xerces8 Report Share Posted October 3, 2004 Use your time to improve the code, not the name The name is a name. Changing it will just confuse people : - What ? CDBurnerXP is no more ? - What is this weird new xyz program I never heard of ? - I'll stop using CDBXP, because I don't like it's new name - etc ... Really, the current name is confusing for several reasons. All that has to be done is to keep using the current domain for a couple of years. Time does not have to be wasted to change the name. If Flo sees one that he likes, he could simply start using it.
