Drive Currently In Use...?

Recommended Posts

I have made several coasters trying to figure out what this problem is, and now I humbly ask for assistance.

I was using CDBurnerXP earlier today to burn to rewritable DVD+R discs, and had no problems. But when I tried to burn to a write-once CD+R using the "verify files" method, I received this message not long after the verification process started:

Cannot read the disc in drive 'D:[make and model of my burner]'. Possibly, the drive is currently in use by another application. Close other applications and try again.

I have closed everything that I can possibly think of that would be putting any kind of "lock" on the drive, but I am running out of ideas. I was not getting this message when writing to re-writable DVD+R earlier.

Is anyone else getting this message? Could possibly this be a "wrong message" and what's happening is a fail on the verification process itself?

I am using Windows 8 Pro; will be happy to provide other specs if needed.

CDBXP preferences:

Burn speed: 4x

Burn Options: Allow making changes to the disc later (also happened on "finalize" option)

After completion: Verify data, eject disc
