Reburn a TOC to a quick erased CD-RW

Recommended Posts

When a CD-RW is quick erased, the TOC is erased but the data is not. Meaning data recovery is possible.

However, data recovery on the quick erased disc is difficult because the drive regards the disc as blank and refuses to read the disc.

The only way around this is to follow the procedure outlined at this link:

The procedure involves re-burning to the disc but cancelling the burn operation right at the point where the lead-in has finished burning, but before the data track has begun burning.

Perfect timing this cancel point is tricky to do manually, if you leave it too late, the new burn will overwrite the old data you want to recover. If you cancel before the lead-in has finished then the disc will still appear as blank.

The ideal solution would be for CDBurnerXP to have a "Reburn lead-in on quick erased CD-RW" function, which will burn the lead-in but not the data track. Meaning none of the old data will be burned over and full data recovery will be possible using recovery software.

That is my feature request. Is it easy to implement?
