Unable to open finalized DVD on Windows XP

Recommended Posts

I am able to burn files to DVD using CDBurnerXP on my older Dell computer running Windows xp (32-bit), but am unable to open the DVD or view files using the DVD-Rom drive (Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615S) or the DVD-RW drive (TSST corp DVD+RW TS-H553A). However, I can open the DVDs on my newer Dell computer Windows 7 (64-bit). I'm sure there's probably a setting somewhere in the CDBurnerXP software that needs to be changed so that I can view the files on the same computer I'm burning them on, but I don't know what that setting would be. When I try to view files (using windows xp computer) on the disc I've just burned, it tells me there is no disc inserted. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes. As I mentioned in my initial post, the xp computer has two optical drives. One is a DVD-ROM and the other is the DVD-RW. When I burn a disc I always eject it and try it in the DVD-ROM drive to ensure it works. Other DVD burning software (example, Roxio) burns the DVD and recognizes it in both the ROM and RW drives with no problem. However, when I use CDBurnerXP, the only computer that recognizes the disc is the laptop running Windows 7. I'm not sure why one computer (the laptop) will recognize the DVD and its contents, while the other (the computer that actually burned the disc) doesn't.
